Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
Must be involved in Higher Education/Library vertical

Reporting directly to Director of Vertical Sales, the Vertical Market Manager (VMM) will drive company’s revenue growth with acceptable margins through Area Contractors / Distributor partners and assigned vertical market (Higher Education/Libraries). The VMM will be a high-performance sales management professional achieving sales goals through new business development in the higher education market. Partner with company sales teams to help achieve overall vertical market sales objectives through the application of market research and insights, development and mentoring of focused AC/Distributors, securing product specifications from vertical market end users, applying detailed product and application knowledge, and fundamental management practices applying tools to measure market performance.

The key for the company is to find someone that understands the MARKET and the CUSTOMER from a sales/acquisition/trends/needs view point … more so than someone who understands the product. Company can teach them the product – we need someone who knows the higher education and library market place.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field.
4 - 7 years of sales and/or sales leadership experience.
Must have demonstrated capability of managing through complex and longer selling cycles.
Ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who performs at the highest level of professionalism and integrity, and will be an initiator and coordinator of all sales-related activities.
Results driven with the proven ability to guide complicated sales engagements through sales funnel.
Strong knowledge of company’s vertical markets and products and knowledge to support all sales opportunities and value engineering requirements.
Strong competitive product and tactical knowledge to support sales and strategy development.
Proven ability to be successful in the manufacturer-distributor dynamic.
Must be self-directed with a history of success working in an outside sales position.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) and proficiency in Sales Force software.
Must have good organizational and time management skills as well as have the ability to meet deadlines with appropriate attention to detail in a fast paced, highly dynamic environment.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations.
Must have a strong customer focus.
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Primary responsibility is attainment of annual sales budget through vertical vision and strategy to drive revenue and profitability.
Assist in driving business and market growth within targeted sub-segments of vertical through alignment of company’s sales channels.
Support the field sales force as needed with strategies to win key projects.
Understands and demonstrates a deep understanding of vertical customers, their purchasing process and their challenges.
Identify product gaps and opportunities within the assigned vertical, and strategize with product development and marketing teams to bring new products to market.
Assist in development of maketing collateral to realize full potential of vertical strategies. This includes content such as campaign ideas, case studies, public relations, thought leadership, literature, support documents, sales tools and other promotional material.
Propose, plan and attend trade shows.
Expand the value and interest in the vertical communities, thought leaders and innovators to increase the number of vertical contact representation and thought leadership for assigned market areas.
Manages regional and national relationships.
Represents company’s products and services with client meetings, and influencer audience in vertical market.
